Why CVumi exists
I built CVumi because I was looking for jobs myself. Every application meant rewriting my CV by hand, writing a new cover letter, and getting the email right. It was slow, repetitive, and exhausting.
Most tools I found charged a monthly fee. The ones that claimed you could own the software asked for a large one-time sum, then still pushed extras. Almost all of them kept my data on their servers.
So I decided to build something on my own, and that is how CVumi came to be: a desktop app for tailoring your CV, cover letter and email while keeping the original files on your computer. Bring your own key. Pay once. Keep it.
CVumi is a tool you buy, like a good pen. It stays on your computer, works when you need it and does not ask for your card again next month. Your original career documents are stored locally, and you decide when to use an external AI provider.
I keep the price low on purpose. Software should do its job, not become another subscription you forget about. SaaS fatigue is real. People want tools that work when they need them, without another card on file. That is how I feel about software. That is what CVumi is meant to be.

What is CVumi?
CVumi is a privacy-focused Windows desktop app for creating, tailoring and managing CVs, cover letters and application emails. You can work manually or use AI when you choose.
Is my data really private?
Your original CV and app data stay on your computer. When you choose AI, CVumi replaces identifying details with placeholders before sending text to your chosen provider. CVumi does not upload your documents to its own servers.
What does CVumi send to my AI provider?
Only the text needed for the AI feature you choose. Before sending it, CVumi replaces names, contact details and selected career identifiers it detects with placeholders. Your original files and the replacement map stay on your computer.
Does identity redaction guarantee anonymity?
No. It reduces exposure, but automated redaction can miss unusual, repeated or indirectly identifying details. Redacted text may still be personal data, so review it and your provider’s privacy terms before using AI.
Do I need an AI key?
Only for AI features. You can edit, design and export without AI. When you want AI help, connect a provider and model you choose.
Are AI provider costs included?
No. CVumi has a one-time purchase price, but your chosen AI provider may charge separately for API usage. You control the provider, model and usage.
Can I chat with the CV after it is generated?
Yes. Highlight any section of the CV, cover letter, or email text and ask for changes. Only that part is updated.
What styles are available?
Modern, Swiss, grid layouts, classic German Lebenslauf, clean one-pager, and more. You can also influence the look with a mood board of screenshots you like.
Which languages are supported?
